Why is my 1978 KZ1000a2 Engine spinning when I try to start the Motorcycle with the Electric Start?

When I first used my Electric start it would turn the engine and try to start. Suddenly when I push the elctric start it sounds like the gears just spin and the engine does not turn over. I have checked the gears, idle clutch, cam chain , drive rod and Starter motor. Everything seems to be in good condition. Where do I go from here.

The starter clutch is not engaging.

yes starter clutch is gone south on you.
Reply:I agree, it sounds like you are describing the starter motor spinning. If that%26#039;s happening, it%26#039;s likely the solenoid. The solenoid, built into the starter on most automobiles, but a separate unit on most motorcycles, does two jobs--when you push the start button, it pulls the starter motor gear into place to crank the engine and at the same time provides 12 volts to the starter to make it turn. Your solenoid is providing voltage to spin the starter, but is failing to pull the gear up first.

REMOVE THE WIRES FROM THE BATTERY , then remove the wires from the solenoid, which is usually mounted on top of the starter...remove the solenoid, fit a new one, wire it all back up, and go ride.
Reply:If you checked everything you said you did then you should know if you are having a problem with the starter clutch. It probably has a kick starter so use that untill you get a manual. How the hell did you check the gears anyway?

Can you ride a motorized scooter on the Santa Ana Riverbed trail in Orange County?

With gas prices out of control, I wanted to buy a motorized scooter to take to work and drive my car on weekends only. I live in Costa Mesa and work very close to Angel Stadium. I definitely don%26#039;t want to take one of these things on the freeway and was wondering if I could ride the riverbed trail with a scooter (it tops out at 45 mph and I probably wouldn%26#039;t even go that fast). Thank you for your answers!
Can you ride a motorized scooter on the Santa Ana Riverbed trail in Orange County?
No, you cannot legally ride a scooter on hiking trails or anywhere else where motor vehicles (cars) are not allowed.

If you want to take the riverbed trail get a horse.

Or walk. Or jog if you%26#039;re in a hurry.

Motorcycle stunts were do i get started.?

Get a bike and learn how to ride first.

Then start out learning how to do wheelies.

Falls might be good, but take some guts. Start out slow. After a few attempts you may chicken out and decide it%26#039;s not all that cool.

Motorcycle stunts were do i get started.?
when you start to do wheelies dont slip the clutch, start out with power wheelies, much safer for a beginner. you can start out sitting on the tank ones the slowly progress in harder stunts
Motorcycle stunts were do i get started.?
Depends on your experiance. You need to eat sleep and live with bikes in order to stunt one. The basics is rideing and controling wheel stands. If you are past this then build a jig to support your bike in the drive way and began moving around on it. This way you know where to put your hands and feet before you start moving. Also I think icon sponsors videos for stunting
Reply:bumps and spills, no pain no gain.
Reply:First, get a pre-paid funeral plan
Reply:first need a bike

and then you need to know

your bike-have to be familiar with it

know the brakes and how everything works

then find a empty street

just start riding in first then open up the trottle youll

feel the front lift up a couple of inches then keep on doing it

till you get used to the power

poppin the clutch would work better for low speed wheelies and 2nd gear wheelies
Reply:Step 1 get a bike you rented first or barrow a Friends bike (a Friend you dont really like)

Step 2 Get really good insurance

Step 3 Have at it
Reply:There is no easy way to do this. These stunts are inherently dangerous. No doubt about it. So start by ordering up some safety gear, (shoulder pads, elbow pads, back pad/brace, and of course a high quaility full face helmet that REALLY fits. extra points for being aware of the BMW neck brace, that protects your upper spine) You also need a jacket to protect you from the street surface and Boots OVER the ankle. Now, stand out in the sun for the thirty minute officer course!

Still here? most people doing this on public highways find people that ride and see if they Look Like A Stunter. They edge over, more or less surreptitiously, like that senator in the airport bathroom, and profess interest in the subject. If you actually SEE a stunt, say something like, %26quot;Wow%26quot;, and ask if he (its always a guy, you understand) will teach you all that he knows. After such an enthusiastic start how can you fail? Well let%26#039;s count the ways! You could attempt a stoppie and fall of over the handle bars. You could attempt a jump, and break you neck on landing as your own bike runns over you. You could be a bit too-enthusiastic doing a wheelie, and loop the bike and %26quot;brake your neck%26quot; (yeah I know, I can never get over the death thing) But any of these, can result in spinal chord injury and you could be bedbound for the rest of your artificially supported life! But honestly I%26#039;d rather be dead. Now, thats the UPSIDE of stunting! remember how I said it%26#039;s never a girl, it happens just enough to make it obvious that this is a Hyper Adrenalized high, and mostly of interest to guys with lots of testosterone, and no girl friends. You may be the lucky one, and when you get off the bike in an UNSCHEDULED fashion, and are bed bound the rest of your life and she%26#039;%26#039;ll stick by that committment. (These girls are he** for brave but smart they are not, so she%26#039;ll spend the rest of her life taking care of YOU, wiping your backside and turning you over to avoid bedsores, changing your catheter bag, so it doesn%26#039;t smell like an old folks home, to get near you.

If that does not scare the heck out of you, look me up and I%26#039;ll give you a loaded gun(!!). Because the downside is you do something STUPID, and several small children riding in the van with a young mother she is still praying she can pay for, is unprepared for your stunts, and goes off the road, goes down a slope and dies (probably because her head is ripped of by the branch that pierced the windshield at eye level), leaving the kids to a long drawn out, painful death in the hidden wreckage. Yep, that would be the down side. So don%26#039;t be an antisocial jerk.

If I haven%26#039;t talked you out of it then, go on. Find some guys that live near by or across town, or around the corner, doing jumps, wheelies, stoppies, and getting some AIR. Put an ad on craigslist.org, and create an entire team, so you can get insurance on one of you, and make fake ids under his name, so when you go to the emergency room you can be treated at taxpayer expense.

Knock yourself out. No i really men it, KNOCK YOURSELF OUT!

How to make a stereo system for a motorcycle?

Just use an iPod.

You can also put small speakers in the sides of your helmet and plug them in instead in earbuds.

Honda xl 500 help!!?

I have a 1982 Honda XL500 and when ever i start it cold i have to let it run for at least five min or else it runs crappy, if i dont let it warm up it will die when i pull in the clutch if i dont keep giving it gas and it when i shift it shifts hard, but after riding around for about ten min it seems fine. Is their any thing i can do to make it so it doesnt run crappy right when i start it?
Honda xl 500 help!!?
The carb is set up to run slightly lean to reduce exhaust emissions. It so lean that it causes the engine to be very %26quot;cold blooded%26quot;. Take off the float bowl and remove the pilot jet and get one that is the next size larger or try moving the carburetor needle up by lowering the cir-clip one groove on the needle.
Honda xl 500 help!!?
The valves might be leaking - very common on a bike that old.

Perform a cylinder leak down test.

When the engine heats up, metal expands and the valves seal better.

Instead of a valve job, it might only need a valve adjustment.

When was the last time the valves were adjusted?

If you can%26#039;t remember, you may have the solution to your problem.
Reply:It sounds as if your idle mixtures are not set up correctly, these control up to 1/3 throttle and will give those symptoms.Does it have diaphrams for carb piston raising ? if one of these is perforated it will cause weak mixtures. Also check the obvious things such as air filters and plug leads and gaps.
Reply:Actually is not sound crappy for me. You know motor vehicles sound like human also, our part of our body. You can%26#039;t expect when you wake up in the morning adn do a marathon run. Same to your motorbike, you need to get a fresh start , eg. breath the fresh air, relax your arm and have a slow walk first before you can have that marathon.

Lastly you Honda xl500 is perfect well, do a regular check and have a habit of start the engine before you start you day. Treat it like your best friend, you will feel good so as the bike too.

What kind of electric scooter should I get?

Ok I%26#039;m 5 feet, 15, and 78 pounds. I want a cute, girly, electric scooter to ride around my neighborhood. I would like a scooter that i wouldn%26#039;t grow out of and that is kinda cheap since i%26#039;ll be paying for it myself. I just can%26#039;t find any electric scooters that are girly or in girly colors. Thanks!
What kind of electric scooter should I get?
NOA!

None Of The Above
What kind of electric scooter should I get?
www.zapworld.com/electric-vehicles I have personally rode one of these and they are excellent motor scooters. Also Kymco makes a agility 50 that gets over 100 mpg. it is quality made.
Reply:Cute girly girls don%26#039;t belong on electric scooters. They belong on 125 cc rompin%26#039; stompin%26#039; scooters, such as a Vespa or any of the 4 main Japanese brands. A couple years old is ok and a money saver. NO electric,no 49cc, period. To save money buy a bicycle, not an electric. Good luck.
